Your privacy

Photos stay with you.

Privacy Policy · Updated September 24, 2026 · Applies to Lessbyte 1.2, formerly Sweep.

Photo analysis and compression happen on your device. Lessbyte does not upload your photos or videos to its own servers. Purchases use Apple and RevenueCat. Usage and crash reporting through Firebase is optional and off by default.

1. Your photo library

You choose full or limited access in iOS. Lessbyte reads permitted photos, videos, thumbnails and metadata to find repeated shots, measure file sizes and create smaller copies. Photo contents, filenames, library identifiers and embedded photo locations are not sent to our analytics or purchase providers. Change photo access in iOS Settings at any time.

Lessbyte does not automatically download iCloud-only originals for scanning. Unavailable items may be skipped or reported as unreadable. If you use iCloud Photos, Apple separately synchronizes your library and approved changes across your devices.

2. Contacts cleanup

Contacts cleanup is optional and starts only after you choose Contacts to review. Lessbyte compares exact phone numbers and email addresses on your device; names alone do not create a match. Your address book is never uploaded to Lessbyte, Firebase, RevenueCat, advertising providers or analytics. Before a merge, Lessbyte saves a local VCF backup of the reviewed records and asks you to confirm. The merge combines reviewed phone numbers and email addresses into the destination contact, then removes the other selected contact records. You can keep or share the VCF backup from Files.

3. Feature availability and Firebase Remote Config

Lessbyte uses Firebase Remote Config to retrieve a small operational feature-availability setting. This lets the app keep an unavailable feature hidden without collecting photo or contact content. Firebase may process an app-installation identifier, device/app version, timestamps and connection information such as IP address to deliver that configuration. This operational request is separate from the optional diagnostics switch below.

4. Optional usage, diagnostics and ads

In Settings, “Share usage & diagnostics” controls Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. It is off until you enable it. When enabled, events include starting scans, opening Pro, item counts, approximate megabytes and purchase product identifiers. SDKs may process installation identifiers, device and operating-system information, app version, timestamps, interactions, crash traces and technical diagnostics. Network services receive connection information such as IP addresses; Analytics can derive coarse geographic information.

These reports help us investigate failures and improve the app. They do not contain your images, filenames, photo identifiers or payment-card details. Where a rewarded ad is offered to unlock an additional cleanup action, it is optional; consent is requested where required before an ad request. Paid Pro access does not show rewarded ads. Turning diagnostics off stops future optional collection and clears pending local crash reports; it does not itself erase reports already received by providers.

5. Purchases

Apple handles payment. RevenueCat validates Pro access using transaction and receipt information, product identifiers, purchase/renewal status and a randomly generated app-user identifier. RevenueCat also provides purchase analytics. Lessbyte does not send RevenueCat your name, email address or photo library. Purchase verification is separate from the diagnostics switch.

6. Local settings and background checks

Settings, skipped-item identifiers and scan summaries stay in app storage. Deleting the app removes local settings but does not cancel subscriptions or delete your Photos library. Background checks run when iOS allows and never automatically remove media. Reminders are local notifications controlled in iOS Settings.

7. Replacement and recovery

Compression can reduce detail or video quality. Live Photo conversion removes motion and sound. Lessbyte saves and verifies a replacement before requesting removal of its original. Approved removals go to Recently Deleted, normally recoverable for 30 days. Lessbyte does not empty that album. A failed or cancelled operation can leave an extra copy; inspect and rescan before retrying.

8. Providers, retention and your choices

Providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. See the policies of Apple, Firebase, Google, Google AdMob and RevenueCat. Firebase describes 90 days before starting removal of Crashlytics crash data and associated identifiers. Other usage and purchase records follow provider settings and the need to deliver purchases, investigate problems, prevent fraud and meet legal obligations.

For access, correction or deletion requests, contact support@lessbyte.app. We will explain which records we can identify and what information is needed to locate them. Do not send passwords, full payment details or your photo library. Removing the app does not erase Apple's transaction records; manage subscriptions and refund requests through Apple.

9. Support, children and updates

If you email support, we receive your address and the information you include and use them to respond. Lessbyte is a general-purpose utility, not directed to children. Depending on your location, you may have rights to object, restrict processing or complain to a privacy authority. We update this page when practices change.

Sweep 1.0 did not include the Firebase, RevenueCat or optional rewarded-ad integrations described for 1.2. This policy describes the updated app, not retroactive collection by 1.0.
